On June 23, 2009, the New York State Police
along with other Members of the Essex County Drug Task Force, to
include the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, the Essex County
Sheriff’s Office, and the Ticonderoga, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake
Police Departments, concluded a long term investigation into the
illegal sale of drugs in the Essex County area. Arrest warrants were
served on several subjects involved in the illegal sale of cocaine,
heroin, marijuana, and prescription medication.
The
following subjects were arrested by the Essex County Drug Task Force,
on various charges relating to the sale of controlled substances and/or
marijuana: 1. LEON J. TAYLOR, 51, Moriah, NY Criminal Sale of Marihuana 3rd degree (Class E Felony) - 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Moriah Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. 2. JASON M. COBB, 26, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony) – 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. 3. CONNIE F. CLEVELAND, 43, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 4th (Class C Felony) – 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond. 4. MATTHEW G. PORTER, 25, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th (Class D Felony) Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond. 5. DONALD S. HARRINGTON, 35, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony) Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond. 6. BARBARA G. COGSWELL, 46, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (Class C Felony) – 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond. 7. TIMOTHY D. MCDOUGAL, 24, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony) – 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. 8. DILLON J. WEST, 22, Peru, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony) – 2 Counts Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (Class C Felony) Arraigned in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. 9. STEVEN E. COBB, 28, Ticonderoga, NY Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony) – 2 Counts Arraigned in the town of Jay Court and remanded to Essex County Jail without bail. LEON TAYLOR and JASON COBB were
additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, after they
were found in possession of marijuana at the time of their arrest.
