Paul J. Reed, 53, of Newton Falls, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. 

Paul was born on February 26, 1956 in Star Lake, NY to Wayne Reed Jr. of Newton Falls and the late Joan M. (Pomerville) Reed. He graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in 1974 and later went on to graduate from SUNY Canton in 2003 receiving his associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology. Paul married Rene M. Titus on June 17, 1978. The marriage ended in divorce. 

Paul worked as an OM II Plant Operator for WPS Power Development in Beaver Falls. He had previously worked at Newton Falls Paper Mill from 1975 until it closed in 2001 as a millwright.

He was formerly on the Clifton-Fine School Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and volunteering at the Clifton-Fine Hockey Arena. He also volunteered in numerous community endeavors.  

Surviving besides his father are a daughter Elizabeth J. Reed of Wanakena; two sons Matthew A. Reed of Syracuse and Anthony W. Reed of Wanakena and a sister Diane Crespo of Jeffersonville. 

Paul is predeceased by two sisters Linda Merring and Suzanne Pitcher. 

There will be no calling hours. There will be a graveside service at Wanakena Cemetery at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 13th with Deacon Phillip Giardino officiating.
