ELLISBURG, NY - New York State Police were escorting an oversized load on State Route 3 in the Town of Ellisburg yesterday afternoon when it overturned. The load was a windmill base being transported by tractor-trailer when police say it veered into the northbound lane of State Route 3 and the load became detached from the tractor. The trailer, with the windmill base attached, rolled over, damaging the roadway of State Route 3 before coming to rest in a corn field. The road was closed for over 3 hours yesterday while NYSDOT crews repaired the roadway. Police say that the windmill base will be removed from the corn field tomorrow and that Route 3 will be closed during that time.
