GOUVERNEUR – Marie Robillard, 80, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at her home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 23 at 2:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. William Hart, pastor of HermonGouverneur. There will be no calling hours. United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Riverside Cemetery,

Marie is survived by a son Arthur “Artie” Jr. of Gouverneur, two daughters Lyn and Richard Patton of Gouverneur, Laurie and Kevin Roberts of Antwerp, four stepdaughters Joanne McCabe of Ogdensburg, Dorothy and George Travis of Gouverneur, Rose and Charles Hyde of Myrtle Beach, SC, Margaret “Peggy” Tulley of Queensbury, a brother Grant ‘Jud” Austin Jr. of Hailesboro, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers Allen “Huck” Austin and Robert “Joe” Austin and two sisters Ada “Louise” Hayden and Honora “Nodie” Stark.

Marie was born April 2, 1929, the daughter of Grant and Noralyn Brown Austin.

She graduated from Gouverneur High School and Potsdam Teachers College. She worked at the rural schools in Fullerville and Oxbow and retired from Gouverneur Central School district.

Marie married Arthur J. Robillard on December 18, 1954 at the Gouverneur First Baptist Church with Rev. William H. Work officiating. Mr. Robillard, a retired St. Joe Mineral Co. employee, passed away January 29, 1981.

Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved hearing about the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and knitting.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gouverneur Vol. Rescue Squad or Gouverneur Vol. Fire Department.
