ALBANY, NY (readMedia) - New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that the November 17 auction of the Schenectady Armory has been canceled.

The 65,000 square foot armory, located on a 1.9 acre parcel, is a multi-story building located at 125 Washington Avenue. It was built in 1936 and declared surplus by the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs earlier this year.

While the armory auction has been canceled, two previously announced auctions of parcels will be held as scheduled. The auctions for 79 Ryckman Avenue, located in Albany and 150 North Brandywine Avenue, located in Schenectady, will take place at 11a.m. in Room 101 of the Stockade Building at Schenectady County Community College, located at 78 Washington Avenue in Schenectady. The minimum bid for the Albany property is $150,000 and $100,000 for the Schenectady property.

The properties were declared surplus by the Office of Children and Family Services in September. OGS is conducting the sale for the benefit of the state.

OGS provides a broad range of core services that facilitate the operations of state and local governments in areas such as: property management, design and construction, procurement, and essential support services.
