Redwood Man Jailed for Burglary

Jeremiah C. CollinsWATERTOWN, NY - Watertown-based State Police arrested Jeremiah C. Collins, 27, of Redwood yesterday afternoon.

Police allege that Mr. Collins entered the residence of Ernesto Ortega on State Route 3 in the Town of LeRay and stole a phone, then entered Mr. Ortega's truck and stole a backpack containing a laptop and several DVD's.  

Police say they found Mr. Collins directly behind the Ortega residence when they responded to the break-in and that during arrest, Collins was found to be in possession of marijuana as well.

Mr. Collins was also charged with intentionally damaging property at the Watertown State Police Station.  They charged him with 2nd-Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Petit Larceny, 4th-Degree Criminal Mischief, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Collins was arraigned before the Town of Pamelia Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
